ClementinaCares Wins “Best Green Community Project” Award!

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

We just received word that ClementinaCares will be honored with an award from the Neighborhood Empowerment Network!  The 2009 NEN Award Ceremony will be held on November 18, 2009 and there are limited seats still available.

The award is for “Best Green Community Project”, in recognition of our efforts to plant nearly 100 trees, plus the landscaping, planter boxes and maintenance of the greening initiatives.  We were selected from other candidate projects citywide.

This great news arrived on the heels of last month’s neighborhood improvement award, which we just received from SF Beautiful in October.

Thanks so much to all of you.  With your tireless efforts to continue transforming our little part of SOMA, this is a wonderful affirmation of what can happen when a neighborhood pulls together to make it a better place for our residents and local businesses.

ClementinaCares Wins Award from SF Beautiful

Friday, September 18th, 2009

I’m very proud to announce that our Clementina, Tehama & Gallagher Streets Greening and Maintenance effort was announced by San Francisco Beautiful as one of only 6 award winners citywide, on behalf of the 2009 Beautification Awards Committee.  We will be honored for our neighborhood beautification efforts at this year’s  awards dinner on October 29th.

Congratulations to all of our neighbors and local businesses for your efforts and continued perseverance, especially during these ‘interesting’ times.   It takes a lot to keep plugging away when there is so much uncertainty in the world, but the fact that so many of you are committed says a quite a bit about the momentum established for and potential of our area.

So, great job and let’s hope that with further improvement, it’s the first of many.

Another Successful Tree Planting Event! Nearly 100 new trees and counting…

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Last Saturday we followed up on the big 2008 tree planting with another 30 new trees for our neighborhood.  We did over 60 trees last year, so that makes almost 100 new trees planted by ClementinaCares,Inc. in the last 15 months.  Great job everyone.

Matt Drake and Brian Wallace led the charge at 7am, doing the heavy lifting and grunting when the trees were delivered to our friends over at ClementinaSF.  Without John Dunlap’s tireless efforts, our streets would be far more barren than they are today.

The turnout was fantastic last weekend – we had about 8 volunteers per tree, so it was really great to see that everyone is still so motivated to improve our neighborhood.  Special thanks to Tami and the good folks at Luscious Garage for opening their doors to us (for the second year in a row) and hosting the post-planting potluck when we wrapped up at noon!

The Intercontinental is open

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Well this isn’t really ClementinaCares news, but we’ve all been watching the InterContinental San Francisco slowly getting built over the past couple of years, and on February 28th it officially opened. The hotel has 550 new guest rooms, a spa, patio, lap pool, and fitness center. The anchor restaurant is called Luce, and Bar 888 is also on the ground floor.
